No Longer a Conspiracy Theory: CIA Director Admits Plans of Aerosol Spraying for Geoengineering | The Free Thought Project

Another example is the array of technologies—often referred to collectively as geoengineering—that potentially could help reverse the warming effects of global climate change. One that has gained my personal attention is stratospheric aerosol injection, or SAI, a method of seeding the stratosphere with particles that can help reflect the sun’s heat, in much the same way that volcanic eruptions do.

Treasure Trove of Documents Released Showing DuPont Knowingly Poisoned Entire Communities’ Drinking Water | Trofire

For the last few weeks, America’s Lawyer and Ring of Fire host Mike Papantonio has been in court facing off against DuPont. This is the second major DuPont trial that Pap has tried in the last 9 months over the company’s decision to pollute and poison an entire community with a chemical used in the manufacturing of Teflon. That chemical is known as C8, and it is a highly toxic chemical that causes severe adverse effects in people who are exposed to it, and the exposure continues for years since the chemical is biopersistent, meaning that it doesn’t get flushed out of the body.

Norway rewards Brazil with $1 billion for keeping the Amazon full of trees | Quartz

Brazil has more than risen to the task. By enforcing strict protection laws, promoting education efforts, and withholding loans to local counties that clear too much of the forest, the country has scaled back its forest destruction rate by 75%. It’s estimated that Brazilian farmers and ranchers have saved more than 33,000 square miles (roughly 53,100 square kilometers) of forest—equivalent to 14.3 million soccer fields—from being cut down.

What Ike Would Tell Trump | POLITICO

When he takes office on Jan. 20, 2017, Donald Trump will have something in common with Dwight Eisenhower—beyond the fact that neither was a politician before stepping into the presidency. That is, he’ll have both chambers of Congress in his own party. Not a bad place for a president to start, but one of Ike’s first lessons when he took office in 1953 was that members of his own party could sometimes be his harshest critics. In any case, Ike’s Republican Congress didn’t last. In a blink of an eye, the 1954 elections came and restored Democratic control. Ike was left to grapple with a Democratic Congress for the next six years. Top Republicans are well aware of this lesson today—“Nothing is forever in this country,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell warned his giddy GOP colleagues on Nov. 9. The next election is less than two years away. As Ike might have advised, best to make friends where you can.

George Washington’s Farewell Warning | POLITICO

When Barack Obama takes to the lectern to deliver his farewell address in Chicago on Tuesday, he’ll likely have a few things to say about a political climate that has grown viciously polarized over the past 8 years and culminated in a bruising, insult-driven campaign in 2016. If he does call out the destructive effects of hyper-partisanship on our democracy, he will be following in the footsteps of the first farewell address, by George Washington, printed in the American Daily Advertiser on September 19, 1796.

Does No One Care That 7 Million Votes Were Not Counted? | Thom Hartmann

peaking in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said he was highly confident that Russia had interfered in the presidential election. With testimony like that from the country's highest ranking intelligence officer, and a declassified report on alleged Russian interference expected out next week, Democrats now have plenty of new fodder for their endless quest to delegitimize Donald Trump by tying him to Russia.

Inside The Invisible Government: John Pilger On War, Propaganda, Clinton And Trump | New Matilda

A silent war continues, led by the west, ignored by the media, writes John Pilger. The American journalist, Edward Bernays, is often described as the man who invented modern propaganda. The nephew of Sigmund Freud, the pioneer of psycho-analysis, it was Bernays who coined the term “public relations” as a euphemism for spin and its deceptions. In 1929, he persuaded feminists to promote cigarettes for women by smoking in the New York Easter Parade – behaviour then considered outlandish. One feminist, Ruth Booth, declared, “Women! Light another torch of freedom! Fight another sex taboo!”

Despite his lies, Donald Trump is a potent truth-teller | The Guardian

By James S. Gordon Donald Trump evokes a wily and resilient mythic figure: the joker, the trickster, the fool, the one the Lakota people call the Heyoka, the contrary. Had his opponents – such as Hillary Clinton – understood this quality in him, the electoral outcome might have been different. The sooner the rest of […]

How Trump Could Shrink the Government (While Still Keeping the Good Stuff) | POLITICO Magazine

Editor’s Note: This is one of the soundest analysis of what’s possible under the Trump administration focusing on solutions instead of hysteria. Please read the entire article. By Michael Grunwald Donald Trump’s political brand is about fighting and winning, and he has promised to fight and win a war on big government. As a candidate, he often […]

Trump is no fascist. He is a champion for the forgotten millions | The Guardian

By John Daniel Davidson Amid the ongoing protests against President Trump, calls for “resistance” among Democratic politicians and activists, and the overheated rhetoric casting Trump and his supporters as fascists and xenophobes, an outsider might be forgiven for thinking that America has been taken over by a small faction of rightwing nationalists. America is deeply […]

Student Captures What Happens When People Are Told They Are Beautiful | Bored Panda

How would you react if someone told you that you’re beautiful? 18-year-old Shea Glover, a highschool student from Chicago, conducted a social experiment to find out. She posed people in front of her camera and then told them “I’m taking pictures of things I find beautiful.” The responses are touching. “I conducted an independent project which evidently turned into a social experiment regarding beauty,” Glover writes on YouTube. “I want to clarify that my intentions were not to get a reaction out of people. I was simply filming beauty and this is the result.”
